OUR STORY
I must first start out back in 2006, I was living in Michigan and a friend of mine (Maddy Eggbert) got engaged (you crazy mormons, i thought) one day I was browsing her facebook and I saw her bridals. I was absolutely floored by her pictures. They looked as if they were taken in some kind of fairy tale story book. The location of her bridals happened to be La Caille, in Sandy. I of course had no idea about Utah or anything within it for that matter, I called my mom into our computer room and told her that someday I wanted to go there, and I wanted to have my wedding pictures taken there. My mom of course nodded and said sure Danielle, thinking A) I would never get to utah for any reason, so how would that be possible. and B) why is she talking about her wedding, she's 18. This is the truth, and I still remember that day. (pictures of Maddy below, yes i was hooked. i never in a million years thought i would actually go there however)
In 2007 when I was baptized and found myself unexpectedly but happily living here, i thought hey! I can finally go to that gorgeous place! I asked Maddy what it was called and she told me La Caille. I think for the first month or so I told almost everyone how excited I was to go there someday. (I didn't know how far it was or where or anything)
Tanner and Danielle meet:
Tanner and I met for the first (but really 2nd) time at the Cosgraves house, after he called me (he's still surprised he did that) and asked me to come golfing with him and Nate. Our first date felt like our 50th. We were so comfortable and happy with each other, it was truly one of the strangest things. On that date at some point in time, like i had told most of utah county i told nate and tanner that someday i wanted to go to "La Caille". that's all. it wasn't a big conversation, i just simply mentioned it.
Our 1st date:
Tanner calls me (we had met just the day before, spent that whole day and evening together, then texted and talked all night once he left) he tell me he wants me to come to Salt Lake and hang out with him! Later that night I did, and he said ok we're going to go somewhere. He tells me to just drive and he gives me directions as we're going. after a little journey I find myself pulling up to where else but.... La Caille! On a 1st date! We walked around, i took in every detail. I was shocked of it's beauty. we walked up these cobblestone steps and found a bench. We sat on that bench, my legs across his lap, for about 2 and a half hours. we got to know each other and that was pretty it. we were attached from then on out.

Our Engagement:
I arrived at Tanners house after work on Tuesday, we get in the car he's driving and he tell me i am NOT allowed to look. I have to cover my eyes or he is going to blindfold me. I followed orders and didn't peep the entire time. we're driving and after the first couple turns i totally lost track of where we were. he told me babe... we're going to a new movie theatre, to see lightning theif. it's really cool and i don't want you to see it. we got VIP! ha ha nice. so tanner. anyway.. so we're driving. i suddenly feel a bumpy road, i automatically think we're in the canyon and driving to this little spot we always go to. we stop and he tells me i still am not allowed to open my eyes. I got out of the car and he held my arm and led me. i was walking and i was so confused, it felt really rocks and i could hardly walk in my heals but i was so excited! i walk through holes, snow and finally I am told we have to walk up some stairs. after the 4th step i thought good gracious haha how many are there? when we got to the 7th and i had an idea where we were. I could hear people, cars, and birds. finally we get to the top of what seemed to be 20 stairs. and i was still being led. Tanner told me ok now sit down.
I sat.
He said open your eyes.
I opened my eyes and where was i?! I was at La Caille, sitting on the very bench where we sat and had our first "real" conversation. Sitting where I was sitting when I figured out I would Love to be in love with Tanner McLean.
Tanner grabbed my hands and said...
i'm not gonna say it exactly he will be mad because it's really gushey :) ha ha but he said the sweetest things. Promised to dedicate himself first to the Lord and then to me. to love me always. He then stood up and got down on one knee and said "Danielle, Will you be my wife.. forever?"
I cried and laughing and cried and smiled and screamed and jumped and squeeled. everything you can imagine me doing, i did. oh an kissed my fiance. we talked and just sat thinking about how we couldn't believe this was real and then we made our way out of La Caille and over to Asian Star, which is my favorite restaurant ever.
Tanners uncle has not yet made us the ring so in the mean time i wear a stand in, it's beautiful.
